About studio ELSE
Studio ELSE is an English based fine art studio - but more than that, we are a space where students are encouraged to discover who they are and stand by it. Not who they're told to be. Not who they need to imitate to fit in.
We don't push kids to perform or follow. We give them the space to observe, reflect, plan and create with intention- just like in real life.
In a culture that often rewards sameness, speed and silence, we believe the ones who lead are the ones who know who they are- and know how to speak that truth with clarity.
Success doesn't chase the loudest or the fastest.
It finds the ones who aren't afraid to be found.
We may all know that possibilities exist - but fear hides the path that leads to them. That's why most people just follow the road that others have marked out- the one with a finish line. But when fear is replaced with awareness and courage, we begin to see the other road; the one where possibilities are endless yet reachable.
As we grow older, many forget this. They stop believing those possibilities exist for them. But that's just fear dressed up as logic.
At studio ELSE, we guide students to notice that fear early, challenge it, and never lose sight of their own path to success.
"Success" looks different for everyone. But those who are truly successful don't stop at one milestone. They keep reaching - not because they're unsatisfied, but because they know there's no finish line.
They've built the confidence to trust the process, and enjoy the becoming just as the arriving.
Confidence isn't something we're born with. It's something we build.
Through practice. Through effort. Through witnessing our own progress.
We live in a world that makes this hard. That's why Studio ELSE exists - to create a space where students can:
Build strong, wide foundations to grow from.
To experiment.
To express.
To expand their perspectives.
To know themselves deeply and speak it clearly.
To make sure they never forget the path is theirs to create.
Teacher Introduction
Hi, I'm Ashley.
I grew up and was educated in the U.S., from elementary school through university.
After moving to Korea, I became more aware of how differently students learn within structured academic systems. While highly effective, no single approach captures every student's way of thinking.
That made me reflect on how important it is for students to have spaces beyond academics- spaces where they can explore how they think, create, and express themselves in their own way.
So I create a studio that supports all kinds of learners. A place to experiment, reflect, and grow- not to follow one path, but to discover their own.
